Hi Kristina,

thanks so much for contacting me. I am so incredibly new with all this, and am still not sure if I should be a member of AboutUs. I wonder if you would clarify this for me, because I am getting the impression that members have either a business or are professional in some way. I am neither. What attracted me to AboutUs is I follow Dr Bulger's career (careprovider and consulting) and I really go nuts when I see he's left typo's!! I loved the idea that I could go in and just tidy his site up a bit ( and definitely not change anything but typos and spelling errors.)

I am now thinking I shouldn't belong to this group just because I want to tidy up!

I am not professional and have no business. Does this matter? Many thanks

You certainly belong here at AboutUs.org if you would like to be here. There is a very broad range of people that edit this wiki and there are certainly no limitations or preferences towards any sort of group of people. You can take a look at our active members to see what I mean - they are a very broad mix of people that contribute regularly here for various reasons and on various projects. There are many ways to contribute here: working on DomainPages or your own PersonalPage, creating a Portal or WikiPage about something that interests you (see Portal:Swing Dancing that I'm working on), helping out in many ways around the wiki, plus AboutUs can be a great place to learn more about wiki. You can check out Special:RecentChanges to see the most recent edits made and what people are working on at AboutUs. If you haven't seen it yet I think the WikiTour may help to explain myself better. I look forward to seeing you around the site working on whatever you would like - don't be afraid to contribute anywhere, if you have something to offer to the page go for it! RE: blanking out spam and fraud sites

Hello Kristina,

I would like to contribute to aboutus in the most responsible way possible.

I've taken to blank out the fraud sites' entries for the following reasons:

1. So as to remove the adult content from the aboutus entry.

2. The particular sites I've been tagging are usually stolen domains, using stolen DNS servers, so aboutus's thumbnail function is actually using the unfortunate stolen sites' bandwidth.

Perhaps we could develop a template that allows us to keep the whois and other tracking info on the page, and keeps out the replusive and repetive advertising text and site images.

I'll stop blanking out the pages until I have a chance to check this out.

Welcoming IRC

I was talking with Ted this morning about welcomes and he thought that we should check in on IRC to see who is doing it so there are no conflicts. I didn't think this was a bad idea. That way if there was 2 people one could work the front page for new users while the other checks recent changes for contributing ones. I did create a page about my web site (http://www.aboutus.org/World_of_Clean) but when I use the search box it is not found. I get the message "There is no page titled "world of clean". You can create this page."

When I click on the link in that sentence I am taken to the page that I have just been told does not exist!!!

Hello I noticed you viewed our About us page. I've recently noticed that while using the Apple (Safari) browser, that words appear jumbled. All "v" letters are replaced with "d" letters. Also while using Firefox I've noticed and only recently that the font on your site appears gritty and small. Can you explain?

Thank you for welcoming me so fast... I just signed up and accidently made 2 accounts. MHodge and Proudparent2. I would like to delete the Proudparent2 screenname but am unsure on how to do this. Oh crazy! I just noticed via my watchlist that somehow the capitalization of the S yields a different user's contributions. Check out Special:Contributions/VietSmall vs. Special:Contributions/Vietsmall... but note that User talk:Vietsmall and User talk:VietSmall both redirect to the lowercase "s". You're right, it looks like some of his edits to existing templates are less than constructive - I'm fixing Template:Review right now. I am just in between classes right now, so I can't be too thorough but if you notice this sort of external linking to a template that doesn't seem helpful I'd revert it. I've left a TalkPage message on User talk:Vietsmall, but I'm not certain this will go through because of the capitalization issue. Thanks for spotting that and asking me! Adult Image

Hi. Ok sorry for the adult content I have uploaded, I'll keep that in mind. Is there a way to still display a picture gallery on the site profile but let's say I host the image on my site? Or is there another way to do show some site sample in here in a gallery view or something?

All these websites I connoted with "see GOOGLE or YAHOO" do exist!! Try for example RU.SEARCH.YAHOO.COM or SE.YAHOO.COM. Yesterday night ABOUTUS.COM didn't work at all. Many sites you allready have, you couldn't find. SQIPERIA-ETNIC f.e. is the most important newspaper in Albania. All Googls and Yaoos find it; why not ABOUTUS.COM?
