One and Done
Consensus Polling Awareness (Obed Suhail, TedErnst, Brandon CS Sanders, Julia, MartinPfahler, Umair)
Ongoing
This is an OngoingProject
This page really needs to be re-organized so it makes sense.
Why are we doing this:
- For AboutUs to have traffic, it needs content for people to come for. It also need community. It needs non-staff editing the site, every day, not just doing recent changes and patrolling for spam and vandalism, but doing their work. The NetworkWeaversNetwork project is about that, about Network Weavers doing their collaborative work together.
We know we are done each day when the following tasks have been completed
- Current work is interviewing people, asking these questions about their work. We know we're making progress based on interviews scheduled, interviews completed, notes on personal pages, and interlinking beginning.
Actionable Tasks
- Interviews
-
JeanRussell- writeup sent to her by email for her review (some things not public) so we can get it posted soon - Julie Caldwell - 6/13
- Evonne Heyning - 6/14
- others to schedule

"patrolling" is maybe a word that sets the wrong tone - it's really good that this page is called RecentChanges
idea: let's elevate the tone of this function so that it's seen by staff as something really important as a tool for building community, for welcoming and for beginning the process of learning wiki with our users
Suggested Projects
Why we're doing this
In response to staff and community concerns about unintended viewing of adult content images and text and the subsequent adoption of an Adult Content Policy, an implementation plan needs to be put in place to insure the policy is implemented in an efficient and orderly way.
We know we are done when
- It is no longer probable that visitors to AboutUs.org will unintentionally view adult content
- That sufficient barriers are in place to insure that only users who intend to view adult content are routed to those pages
How does the implementation work?
- Make it so it is still indexed by search engines, but you will need to login to see the wiki pages and see them in RecentChanges?
- If you are not logged in, a splash page?
- Login to view adult content?
Actionable Tasks
- Consolidate adult content categories into one category, LinkingToPossibleAdultContent, so we can identify those pages that contain adult content
- Keep an offline list that the new bot would be able to add to
-
Remove adult category from the wiki - Add flagging capability into skin
- Splash page text
- Decide on category or tag notation

Why?
To expand our content by having a great wiki article for common acronyms
Done when?
We have great articles on common acronyms
How can I help?
- Create A-Z list of common acronyms
- Create great articles from list of common acronyms
- Categorize acronyms
Current Projects - Stalled
- These are projects that we've done work on, but have stalled due to needs outside of content and community's control.
- Widget - John
- One-Click SubDomain Pages - John
- Prepopulate User and Portal Pages - John
- Spam Controls - John, Mark - 3 dev cards, 0 in queue
- Projects:CaseSpace - Mark
- We have many other project related pages. We'll be organizing all these in similar ways as part of Projects:Projects, our project to straighten out projects.
- NetworkWeaversNetwork
- Category:TaskToDo
- Other Community Projects -- substantial, smaller tasks
Comments
- Links to projects should link to their project page, not the actual page. For example if recent changes were a project we should link to Project:RecentChanges, not the recent changes page. ScottKeeler | :::talk:::
- What is the function of these project pages? Tanwir Shah
- I was thinking aloud. I've had a look at 2008 Presidential Elections and now have a good idea. I'd better get cracking on TheStorytellersBazaar then. Tanwir Shah

- These are projects that have been accepted at the planning game and we're currently working on.
- Is this accurate? For those of us not-in-Portland, is there anything we can read about teh planning game, how often it takes place, how it works, etc? And if there are projects on this list that have not yet been accepted (which I think there are), what do we do about that? Are people to work "only" on projects after they've been accepted at the planning game? Any chance to participate remotely in the planning game? TedErnst
- Ted, I'll be working on the planning game project page soon. Right now we're overloaded with category work and that's all I've been doing everyday so this page isn't being actively worked on, which it needs to be to work. - Scott Keeler
- Any update on this? Where are we? TedErnst
