IRC Bot Linking
How should wiki linking work in the IRC channel (FreeLinking, double brackets words with . in them)? We'll leave comments in the discussion section of the ABotUs wiki page
Small Groups as EfficientlyExpressedSuggestions
Since small groups work so well for us we'll break individual projects into small groups. The results of what the small groups come up with are EfficientlyExpressedSuggestions.
- Brandon CS Sanders talks about EfficientlyExpressedSuggestions:
- WikiPages and Consensus Poll's are EfficientlyExpressedSuggestions. They avoid the back and forth over small details and force us to address the actual conflicts. EfficientlyExpressedSuggestions are not final decisions, they are suggestions. To make a suggestion we make the changes decided upon.
Project Reports
- Projects:CategoryCleanup is complete
- Projects:USSF2007 is complete. The brochure is at Projects:USSF2007/Brochure
- Projects:DomainPage has been handed over to dev for completion
- Projects:Adult Content Categories meeting was not held and was rescheduled 27 June, 2007 at 2:00pm
- Concerns were that we need a tool to go through pages in categories marked as AdultContent to double check individual pages so they aren't marked as AdultContent by mistake. We might not have to do this all right now as we will have two new database servers, allows greater accessibility to data in future. Not everything need to be perfect prior to upgrade.
- Projects:Site Design was moved to an OngoingProject. Noted that the MediaWiki:AdSidebar was removed because it was crashing IE after 3 or 4 page loads. We'll be testing it on the test wiki. If we can't get the AdSidebar up and running soon we'll add WikiTour and Portal Links to Navigation side bar
- Projects:RedesignEditPage we held a small group, the results of which are on the project page. Summary of changes we'd like to see:
- Changing "Editing PAGENAME" to "You Are Editing PAGENAME"
- Removing buttons by default and adding a drop down cheatsheet, that shows you how to '''bold text'' or [[Image:Add An Image]] instead of having the button insert it for you. One of the goals is to teach, not do. There will be a link to add the buttons if you still want to use them.
- Shortened and flarified disclaimer text which is on the project page. We might internally link to the GFDL and CC licenses, but there are concerns we must protect the pages from editing if we do so. (e.g. someone edits the text to say "The content you upload may not be used freely" then company X uses the content. We may then be liable since we pointed them to a text saying nobody could use it, despite what the license actually means)
- Add disclaimers in footer on edit page like they are on other pages
- Change "Summary" to "Summary of Changes"
- Remove minor edit button
- Changing protect email tag wording
- Change "cancel" link to "Cancel Edit" button
- Remove help link since it will be in the cheatsheet drop down
- Make templates a drop down
- Background section will be a different color so the white edit window stands out
- Bot change is progressing nicely and the project was removed from the content and community planning game
- It will use template on wiki which we can edit to create new wiki pages
- Should be up in next couple of weeks
- We can fix pages created by the bot between the upgrade and when the bot is up
