Proposed Agenda:
2 hours
10:30 am (15 minutes) Many ways to communicate on the internet, traditional, email, forums, weblogs.
- New way that is gaining momentum that can be better at self organizing for building and conflict resolution.
- Pros of each - good conversational:
- Email, good for one to one communication. (normal mail)
- Forums, can be good for reporting (transcript of your committee conversation)
- Good for bug reports because the developers add to some internal list they have
- Tech support - many people asking quesitons, tech answering - need a moderator to be good.
- Weblogs good for one to many communication (like newspapers)
- Cons:
- Conversations tend to lead to more conversations.
- Dispute stays in the public eye, even if dispute is resolved or opinions have changed.
- Old info about old versions
- same conversation over and over
- Stream of consciousness and lots of side conversations.
- susceptible for being a soapbox
- Bottom line - lots of noise, not easy to parse out. - some good piece
- Cons:
Now imagine a committee that instead of just gets together to just talk and talk, they produce a transcript of all their time together.a plan of action
10:45 am (10 minutes) How wiki works, the technology
- wiki is a way to easily create
- EDIT, WRITE, SAVE
- and very importantly to link information
- Tie in discussion points from traditional internet communications brainstorm.

- What has been valuable for the social forum for you?
- What are the things we want to share with the world and the next social forum.
- What is one thing we could specifically work on as a group spread all over the place?
- Brainstorm question:
(25 minutes) Build our idea on the wall, moving words and sentences around.
- Dependent on size, one, two or three walls for each WikiPage idea.
- Need a wiki champion to start the page off with a sentence. or everyone write one word.
- Think about how you handle edit conflicts, how you understand how this collaboration works.
11:45 pm (15 minutes) How did that feel How wiki works, the people and values
- writing for community and ideas, not self.

- How to watch what is happening in the wiki? Recent changes
Basically we see wiki as a mass Collaboration Tool with intentional Conflict resolution strategies.
We see the AboutUs wiki possibly be the social forum of every day as effective communication on building the world we want.
