We have various templates ({{ComingSoon}}, {{ParkingLot}}, {{ForSale}}, {{PossibleSpamSite}}, etc.) for this sort of thing. It's not a big issue really but it can add to the informativeness (is that a word?) of the DomainPage. KristinaWeis | **talk** 16:46, 4 October 2007 (PDT) (p.s. I used to work for the Clark paper as a copy editor back in the day.)
WikiMan232
User:WikiMan232 is an interesting one, for sure. I'm not sure exactly what to do with him. We are now a casespace insensitive wiki so WikiLink, wikilink and wiki Link all work, and go to the same page, so if he feels it's better to have a space, I don't necessarily see a problem, even with a less-than-friendly edit summary. On the other hand, if you see edits that are unconstructive, please feel free to keep doing what you've been doing, and undoing those edits. You might also want to use an edit summary that explains, like RevertTest or the like. A list of these that we have so far is here: Glossary. Hope this helps! peace, TedErnst | talk 21:46, 5 October 2007 (PDT)
Yay for WelcomingPeople
I was happy to see you joining the very elite club of welcomers! It's kind of my specialty/favorite thing to do, so let me know if you have any questions. WelcomingPeopleIdeas has a lot of, well, ideas on the topic. KristinaWeis | **talk** 02:56, 6 October 2007 (PDT)
- I actually have a leaning towards non-template welcomes because I like to do what I can to personalize them. But um, Template:Welcome is the only template one that I know of. My personal one that I copy and paste from and tweak (which this template was largely borrowed from) resides at User:KristinaWeis/Welcome3 and most everyone else makes up their own shorter ones individually for each welcome they do. I'd recommend checking out how others are welcoming on WelcomingPeople Log (just tab out some of the TalkPages) and create your own variation that works for you. Cheers, KristinaWeis | **talk** 23:57, 6 October 2007 (PDT)
- I need to dig up our conversation on this. We've tended not to simply drop {{Welcome}} on talk pages, instead going for a more personalized cut/paste version, where we put in the person's first name, if we have it, and a link to the DomainPage they've been editing. Wish I could remember where we discussed this. TedErnst | talk 08:57, 8 October 2007 (PDT)
- I'm planning to make my own template, but I haven't had the time yet. Besides, I personally found all the links in the standard template helpful as a newbie, and I wanted to suss out what questions people were most likely to have and what I should add or remove to a template I made. Thanks for the helpful suggestions, Steven | talk

Bot
The Development team has a couple of bots that are doing that right now, until they are totally finished those tasks, I have my bot doing other things. When they are done that, we can come up with some ideas to get the rest of the pages. --Simon | talk 17:20, 6 October 2007 (PDT)
wikipages
Glad you like that.
By the way, Ray got me interested in go last year, and I've been playing like crazy. I'm still pretty awful, but it's fun to see all your go links together and the Go Congress next summer. I'll have to see if I can be in Portland that week. TedErnst | talk 15:29, 7 October 2007 (PDT)
Hi
Thanks for the heads up, I'll check it out. Kasey 18:13, 7 October 2007 (PDT)
weird cross over
Hi Steven! Great to see you in full name mode :-) Just wanted to point you to a couple of ideas:
- WikiIndex.org and
- the weird talk page cross over we developed there, we actually use talk pages in the user namespace - well most of us do. Anyway, stuff to think about! :-) Best, MarkDilley
- also Steven, when welcoming, you might think about using {{subst:Welcome}} as it looks a little less mystical if they look at the edit page. Best, MarkDilley
Category:Welcome to AboutUs!
Kasey came up with a great idea that I'm in love with for tracking new people that are welcomed as opposed to the old Welcoming People Log page. Essentially by month every new user welcome gets a category like Category:2007-10 Welcome to AboutUs! (as you have) so they can easily be tracked and sorted by year/month on Category:Welcome to AboutUs!. So you can see that I just added this to my deal-y at User:KristinaWeis/Welcome3 and if you could do the same to whatever you use and hopefully remember to change it on the first of the month.
