Indeed - Redirects can be real doozies sometimes. The talk and user pages aren't really gone they're just hidden and hard to find - the way I usually get it to work is if I link to User:Whatever, I will be redirected and it will say the title with a little note below saying redirected from User:Whatever, and by clicking this I can get to their user user page with the discussion tab. It's great to have you WelcomingPeople by the way - some fellow welcomers have left notes on that page and feel free to add your own. KristinaWeis 12:37, 20 July 2007 (PDT)

Spelling

I guess British spelling vs American spelling is subjective from person to person. I usually don't think about it because I taught myself to favour British spellings over American spellings, even using them here, even though this is an American site ;) Nathan (talk) / 23:42, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Hei, I made the registration first and then started to explore the site and now I want to change my user name 'Geronimo' but this seems to be the only thing that can't be done. I want to change it to 'Andando Granite Worktops'. Is that possible somehow?

Yes, you are right, changing your username is one of few things that cannot be done. You can create a new account with your desired username or your existing PersonalPage can be Redirected to a page with your desired name. Rather than choosing your company's name I would encourage you to consider something resembling your RealName as PersonalPage are for RealPeople, not companies as they have DomainPages. You can click my name below to see my PersonalPage as an example. Let me know what you think, but creating a new account may be the best of these options.

At your suggestion I indulged myself in creating a user page.

I hope I haven't been too self-indulgent or self-promoting but in my usual unrepentant manner, I did indulge.

With my luck someone will come-in and mercilessly edit. Until I established myself on Wikipedia I suffered from continual challenges over there at the beginning. Now my stuff is all over Answers.com as well thank goodness. I am always afraid that I'll forget this stuff and it will be lost forever.

Trusted Source citing doesn't seem to be an issue here however so I may be pleasantly shocked:)

Anyhow, it is always fun for someone to talk about themselves.

Again thanks for the welcome. That little bit about Release Early Release Often could have been expanded into a book on release management but that would hardly fit-in here. It was one of those spontaneous things that then prompted me to create an account here so the other users would at least know who was posting in such an authoritative tone.

I have tagged ShakiraNudeWorld.info as a malware site because it tries to download a trojan disguised as a codec. I suspect that most of the related domains on that page may also be malware sites, but I am reluctant to find out. If you have a workstation that you are absolutely sure has up-to-date anti-trojan protection, you may want to confirm this. Otherwise, I would encour4age you to place a "suspected malware" tag on each page. The following three domains are hosted on the same server according to http://whois.domaintools.com/shakiranudeworld.info and should also probably be tagged as malware or suspected malware:

I see that AboutUsBot is not running. Once it is operating again, please delete and repopulate jnmold.com, pcaid-oc.com, occomputers.net, Wedding-tips.co.za, rapdom.net and other domain pages created while AboutUsBot was down. In some cases, the existing text on those pages can be salvaged and used as a description or review.

Release Early Release Often

Hi Kristina,

A most amazing thing has happened. The Release Early Release Often page that I created has vanished without a trace. This is not the Wiki Way that I am familiar with.

Is this a usual occurence? I would have expected a merciless edit, pehaps even several.

Will the same thing happen to other pages that I create? Nothing in talk, just "poof", without a trace...

Perhaps completely out of context?

Doesn't matter really since words are made to be broken, but I am curious.

The Release_Early_Release_Often link was moved and the camelcase was lost thereby breaking the link from the Wiki Way by somebody named Ted Ernst.

Since moving of pages is turned off this is very amazing indeed. Or is it just turned off for some?

But explains what happened. And why, but not how. Nor why break a link... if redirects are not working. Or shall I say, not working in this peculiar case.

Drink While You Link perhaps:) Sorry to have been confused earlier. I'm really confused now. Must be because as a long-time software developer I am too logical.

Remove Page

I can Delete this page for you, but since the external link still goes to a web site (albeit a ParkingLot), if anyone searches for it the page will be Repopulated. The current page was just created a few minutes ago (See http://www.aboutus.org/index.php?title=TheWebLendingtree.com&action=history) so it has the most current information from the AboutUsBot. Autobot and Camel Case Release Early Release Often

Hi Kristina,

I left a message for Ted and I am assuming Good Faith and improper camel casing by the Autobot as the underlying problem for the unlinking of this page during Ted's move. I also think that editing WikiWayNav to use Camel_Case on this link in the short term may resolve this immdediate problem, but I wasn't able to figure-out how to do so. For certain, my attempts to move this back have failed, and my attempts to create a copy have failed.

I'll see what Ted has to say.

Quick question - how do I change the email noted for a site... in some cases of the sites they appear to be the domain admin email (and in one case outdated) rather than the standard email used by the company.

CamelCase

Also can you please clarify something for me..many New Zealand pages end in NZ um, like VisitNZ (I doubt there's such a page).. often these are named as Visitnz so I have changed some to VisitNZ as that would be CamelCase, yes???? also what do I do with dhb, which stands for District Health Board? If the url ends with DHB, you do not substitute it with "District Health Board" - that is misleading to those who happen on the page and go there (after you've renamed the page to WaitemataDistrictHealthBoard which doesn't exist as a URL), and no such page exists. You have to rename the page with the same letters that appear in the URL with whatever case applies. You can't add new letters. Know what I mean? Nathan (talk) / 08:31, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey Kristina, Have fun rafting! I'm too scared to try that. I could have done it as part of my Sports course that I am doing through Sit.ac.nz.
I made a mistake with a re-name of a page and I can't correct it so can you pls take a look. (it's the only one that I actually changed the name, thank goodness) I've been chatting with Mark and Nathan to make sure I get it right as I'm concerned about so many NZ Maori place names being wrong and it's easy for me to correct them but a big job with all the whatlinkshere, but that's okay. Here we always use Capital letters for NZ, never Nz so I wanted to be sure it was okay to change it on here when I see it wrong. Also we use ANZ (Aust and NZ) etc. I've been doing them right but I got one Very Wrong!! NorthShoreHospice.co.nz should be NSHospice.co.nz.
