The internet is an amazing place. Since 1991 (i.e. the mesozoic era in relative pre-www terms), we've used the net to research finance, stocks, economic trends, demographics, and industry information. We quickly found that the problem wasn't a lack of information on these topics but rather mountains of data from many different sources. Unfortunately, only a few of these resources provided relevant and useful information.

When the world wide web arrived we realized that for 90% of the research we did we referenced the same sites. The difficult part was that as we upgraded computer operating systems or web browsers, the bookmarks that we had indexed did not always make the move with us. In addition, the links to the sites would often change, and we'd spend more time searching for the new http:// path.

We thought it would be a great idea if someone created a web directory for the best business information sources. A public directory that listed only the most relevant and useful business sites. We knew if we created it, our Wall Street ExecutiveLibrary users would be amongst the web's intelligentsia, ... the cognoscenti. They would be a tough, demanding, elite. This group wouldn't need explanations, or how to guides, ... only quick access to the best of the web's resources!
