Libervis.com is a community portal, no doubt. However, it is not just about gathering people with interest in certain specific area of creativity or productivity such as computers, software, music or even things like automobiles, sports, pets and so, as many online community sites do. It is about gathering people interested in certain ways of thinking about our world and our culture, including all the things mentioned above as part of it.

Libervis.com was founded by Danijel Orsolic in August 2004 as a Free Software community portal with a goal of being a central forum for discussions on any Free Software and Open Source related topics not limited to either it's philosophy nor technical matters. It was reshaped and refocused multiple times since then expanding its scope to all technology related freedom as its topic and leaving technical discussions behind in favor of philosophical, ideological and political ones.

These ways of thinking may be diverse, sometimes even contradicting, but that is exactly the point, not to create a fan club around certain set of opinions everybody in a club agrees and cheers on, but a community where everybody's opinion will be welcomed, and in turn everybody's opinion may be challenged.

This may well be the foundation of free culture: freedom of though, freedom of speech and freedom of expression. This is where other, content related freedoms come from - freedom to use, study, share and build upon - be it knowledge, music, software, imaging arts, movies and other products and bases of creativity.

Title

Libervis.com - Promoting Freedom In a Networked Digital World

Description

Libervis.com was founded by Danijel Orsolic in August 2004 as a Free Software community portal with a goal of being a central forum for discussions on any Free Software and Open Source related topics not limited to either it's philosophy nor technical matters. It was reshaped and refocused multiple times since then expanding its scope to all technology related freedom as its topic and leaving technical discussions behind in favor of philosophical, ideological and political ones.

Some of our articles and projects were widely featured, such as our cooperative article on Free Software model applied to other areas of economy and FUDZilla (an Anti-Disinformation project now retired and archived). We've also cooperated with Mozdex.com, an open search engine, by hosting their official blog for a while, discussing improvements to the engine, doing an interview with the founder and helping create current Mozdex.com design.

From many of the ideas discussed on Libervis.com, other projects such as Libervis Blogs and Nuxified.org were born to create what is now called a Libervis Network, a web publishing entity dedicated to promoting freedom on the web and financially supported by advertising sponsorships (governed by the Libervis Advertising Policy).
