great Edit

Hi Blake,

Your edit is really good. Very clear and concise. I do tend to go on a bit which I am in danger of doing now, so I'll just say thanks for the tip.

Community Reviews

Hi Blake. It's great to have your views on Community Reviews and deleting the unhelpful info. Such "comments" do sometimes go beyond even negative reviews, taking even the form of defamatory or libelous comments. But I feel that deleting such reviews might be taking on too much of a policeman's role. I think we should do it only as a last resort, when we are sure that a person is deliberately spamming AboutUs or defaming somebody. What is helpful and what is not is also subjective most of the time. As a wiki, our aim should be to encourage people to make EfficientlyExpressedSuggestions, rather than deciding what is helpful and what is not. As sysops, I believe, we don't have the right to judge those who contribute to AboutUs (IncludeEveryone). So moving such reviews, except when they are explicitly defamatory, to the relevant section of community reviews seems to be alright, or may be we can ask them to support their point of view with facts - though even by doing so we sound too much like wikipedia, which is one of our explicit concerns not to become. Secondly, if somebody says "This is one of the most amazing....", "This is the best....." etc., we don't usually ask them to give evidence. Likewise we shouldn't ask them to prove it when it's a negative review, except, of course, in extreme cases.
It will be wonderful if we could discuss the whole issue further. Have a great day! Asad Butt

Hello Blake, could you move your conversation with Asad to the NegativeReviews. I think this is a good opportunity to collaborate on taking another step towards clarity on this. Best, MarkDilley

Hey Blake, I reverted your removal of the category from this WikiPage. There is something there that I would like to talk to you about, maybe you could help me flush out what it is when I get back. Best, ~~ MarkDilley

Hi Blake, I see that you are deleting portals... why? Why not just remove and rename the category that dusty portals are in. I really don't think this is a good idea... ~~ MarkDilley

Featured Discussions

Hey Blake,

Thanks for taking a swing at a lot of those Featured nominations today. I started to change your notes so that the signature was on the same line as the comment (see for an example of what I did), and then decided it probably didn't matter and so I stopped about halfway through. In my mind they look better in one line, especially given the general clutter of the page, but it's your call. Feel free to revert my changes or whatever. -- Tak

Hollywood Fine-Art Portal

Hello Blake, This is in regards to the portal deletion, I thank you for your message. Also I am not concerned with the deletion because when I built that it was to test the About Us Wiki. The only content I am concerned with is : So my question is will the content be changed or deleted?

Thanks for doing somethin great for everyone,

Wiki Tour meeting

No problem about the mis-scheduled meeting. As it happens I'm up late trying to get a grant application done that's due tomorrow for the Oregon Literary Arts Fellowship, so I'm happy to be able to sleep in a bit (or just know I can pull an all-nighter). I'll let Scott know you can't make the meeting. We'll get together with Chris next week and map out the project then. In the meantime, I might take your thoughts and throw them on the tour page as a starting point as well. Have a great trip and we'll see you in a couple of weeks.

Hi Blake
Thanks for your comments. I have added some more lines of info in the two sections you mentioned. The owner of Vibra-Train wants it to remain simple and uncluttered with easy click-thru to the actual website so I haven't added a lot. There's nothing that extra pics will add as it's all on the site. Client reviews aren't available. I am a client so I could do one but again, it wouldn't necessarily reflect anyone else's experience or raise expectation of experience as Vibration Training is quite individual in it's (many) effects. I hope you'll get to try it one day soon. --Di 00:57, 6 July 2007 (PDT)

You reverted my changes to as spam. I didn't intend them as spam; I was just trying to fill in the template areas which AboutUsBot missed. --Eohippus 17:18, 17 July 2007 (PDT)

Hey Blake, was there a reason for the removing of the no-includes? --Simon | talk 13:30, 19 July 2007 (PDT)

Hey Blake,

I see you did some notes on the FeatureMePotentials. Thanks!

BTW: I moved those two you made comments back into the "New Candidates" section. My thought on renaming that section (I think it was "Awaiting Comments" before) is that by leaving the new candidates in there for a week or so (even if we've made comments) it gives them a little extra weight and helps them shine out a bit so that when community members come to the FeatureMePotentials page an only want to focus on a handful, that they're looking at those most in need of support and positive feedback.

I don't know if that makes sense, but I think it could help. Let me know what you think.

Hi Blake, The AboutUsLogo ConsensusPoll has surpassed all it's GoThresholds and we will be turning on the DoneTimer as soon as all participants have been notified. This means that all participants now have the opportunity to check AboutUsLogo one more time, to make sure we haven't overlooked something. Please feel free to change the document and/or change your status, if need be. Best, Obed Suhail

Hey Blakeity, Blaker, Blake, can you update your User:Blake Hinckley/Projects page? The full list of projects is up on OurWork. - Scott Keeler Comment_green.gif

consensus polling tour

Hi Blake,

As part of ConsensusPollingAwareness:Staff, I'd love to go through the consensus polling tour with you. It'll take about 15 minutes or so. When would work for you? Thanks! Ted Ernst | talk

Just a friendly note

So you remember, external links don't need pipes after the URL (|), internal ones do however (if you're naming them something else). It's easy to get that mixed up. :-) Nathan (talk) / 18:47, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Anytime. Have a good weekend yourself. Nathan (talk) / 01:54, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Blake, as an effort to minimize the distinction between AboutUsStaff and ActiveMembers, we are replacing the AboutUsStaff/AboutUsEmployees/AboutUsStaffCity categories with AboutUsCity Category. You are welcome to share your ideas/thoughts on AboutUsPeopleCleanup#Discussion page. Best, Obed Suhail

WhoWeAre Consensus Poll

Hi Blake, did you see the recent changes made to WhoWeAre document? Could you please have a look at Stage 1 for WhoWeAre and see if it works for you and set your status accordingly? Feel free to change the document if you think it can be improved. Let me know if you have any questions. Best, Asad

Hi Blake, The WhoWeAre Stage 1 Consensus Poll has surpassed all it's GoThresholds and the DoneTimer has started. WhoWeAre Stage 2

Hi Blake,

Having made significant progress with WhoWeAreStage1 in reaching 100% consensus, we are now ready to get on with stage 2. This consensus poll, as you know, has been started to make a collective decision as to the identity, values and mission statement of AboutUs, and as such it can't be complete without all of us participating. WhoWeAre Stage 2 is in progress; you are most welcome to have a look at the page and set your status accordingly and/or change the document to improve it. Best, Obed Suhail 02:18, 3 October 2007 (PDT)
