France vs Switzerland. As predicted, it was tough match for former world cup champs France. Switzerland are drawn again in the same group with France. It’s still the same result where France and Switzerland ended in their 3rd competitive draw match. France and Switzerland had chances to break the deadlock but it was Switzerland that had the better opportunity. Switzerland also had a rock solid defence that foiled the French connection upfront. Henry wasn’t at his best. France now have to get the right results against S. Korea and Togo.
Brazil vs Croatia. I knew Brazil was going to win this but the scoreline was out of my expectation. Only by a goal, Brazil was struggling against the mighty Croatians. Kaka finished off with a well taken measured drive before half time. Brazil was under pressure in the second half as Croatia looked like scoring but Dida kept Brazil at bay. I would think Croatia would do well against Japan and Australia. But the reigning champions have yet to gel as a formidable team. Still a long way to go in the competition anyway and I hope Brazil raise their bar a bit and show their true class. Brazil were lucky to steal all three points.
