Georgia Ghost Huntersis a non-profit organization that was founded in 2004 by Ginger Yarbroughand our main purpose is investigating paranormal activity using scientific methods of proving/disproving the existence of paranormal phenomena. Featured in the Metro Spirit and Interviewed/filmed by News 12 WRDW. We are a dedicated group of open minded individuals who spend our spare time in researching and investigating claims of the unexplained. Our mission is not necessarily to prove that ghosts exist, but to investigate all possible explanations of areas that are associated with being haunted.

All data we collect on investigations is analyzed and then presented to those involved providing either a logical explanation or absolute concrete evidence. Each member has had their own personal experience with paranormal phenomena which has led us to provide our services to those that do not understand unusual occurences that are happening around them, either it be in their home or place of business.

The way the world perceives ghosts is like it does at the movies, but in real life ghost hunting is a whole new ball game, where reality meets science. As a ghost hunter you have to step into it with a bit of skepticism and try and rule out all natural explanations before saying the place is haunted. There can be many causes of a supposed haunting, such as drafts, leaky pipes and vermin just to name a few. At least 80% of all alleged hauntings can be ruled out by false or man-made phenomena. We take stories of the paranormal and research the history of the location and look for rational explanations, not ghosts.

Along our journey of seeking the answers, which can be a hard task to accomplish, we hope that we can provide a different outlook on the paranormal and afterlife. I have always asked myself "Will the existence of these beings ever be proven?" But one answer always seems to out weigh the other. Until enough evidence can be documented to show that the existence of these beings are indeed here with us, we will have to continue our research and hope that one day we will have the proof needed to present to the public.

Types Of Hauntings

Georgia Ghost Hunters categorize hauntings to help determine what type of ghost that could be residing in a home or place of business. Which will be explained in detail below.

Residual Haunting - this is a haunting that is like a tape recorder or movie (imprint), it is endless loops of the same scene being played over and over to people, it's usually in the exact same location doing the same thing. The ghost is not aware of its surroundings.

Intelligent Haunting - These are interactive with people, they are trying to get the attention of someone through many different means: creating odors (perfume, food, roses, etc), moving objects and unexplained noises (footsteps, disembodied voices, doors and cabinets slamming).

Anniversary Haunting - They do as the title suggests, they may appear only during the anniversary of an event that may have meant something to them while they were alive, such as: Birthdays, Holidays, Deaths or any Historical event.

The Poltergeist - Which means, German for noisy spirit. These are the rarer type, but do exist. This type can be violent by throwing objects, hit, slap, scratch and pinch or can start small fires.

The Coalition

Ginger Yarbrough has set out to help ghost hunting groups by starting a Ghost Hunters Coalition. Although this is a new idea, she feels that groups who help each other out can accomplish more. Her main purpose is getting other Ghost Hunting Groups envolved with each other. With ghost hunting becomming a very hot subject in this time of day. People are forming there own groups in search for the unknown. With so many groups, we need to form a coalition to give each other a helping hand. With this coalition so many things are possible, we could exchange tips and tricks of the trade, get together for monthly discussions and seminars. This would be good, because more experienced groups could help out the newer groups in proper procedures and training. We could also get together for large investigations, another words, pick up the slack in smaller groups to form a large group on that investigation. There is no end to the possibilities this Coalition could offer.
