Malicious Changes to Anime-Gateway.net

Tsume, thanks for your note on my Talk page. I've reverted the edits back to the way they were. I've added this page to my "watch" list so I'll get an email if anyone makes edits to the page. Additionally, I flagged the page with a Category:AboutUsHoneypot. This allows us to know it's a page that's is "attracting bees" so we can fight the spam. We tend to do this as a first step rather than "lock" a page down for a couple of reasons:

  • Locking a page makes it impossible for people who are being constructive to add their voice
  • If we lock your page, the spam attackers will just find another page in the system to be sending their bots. I'm sorry it had to happen to your page, but at this point, the goal is to try to figure out what accounts and IPs the spam attacks are coming from to shut them down at the source and make sure these links get on our blacklist so that other pages don't get hit as well.
By flagging your page as a potential "honeypot" we can watch this activity, but are also able to react to it faster and make sure it's fixed ASAP if there is an unconstructive post.

If this continues to be a problem, we might explore other solutions (like "locking" the page), but as I said, our preference at this point is to watch the page and be able to react when these come up.

BTW: If you see this again, there's a quick way for you to fix it yourself too. Click on the "History" tab and you can see the page's history. You can then click on any older version of the page that's good (like my last edit, or really anyone that says "revert" or "reverted") and you'll see that page. Then click the "Edit" tab and save that revision. I hope this helps.
