Welcome

Hello MarkGrimes! Welcome to AboutUs.

I appreciate you using your (presumably) RealName as your username - I think it really helps to foster a nice sense of community here, so thanks! I noticed your edits to Ned.com and I'm excited that you've chosen to explore the wonderful world of wiki here at AboutUs.org - the place where everyone may collaborate to build the commons and community through their constructive edits and participation. Welcome! Check out the brand new tours to learn about wiki, what AboutUs.org is all about and how to use the site to the fullest.

Be sure to let us/me know if you have any questions along the way (you can leave a message on my talk page via the talk link by my name, join the AboutUs WebIRC here, or check the "currently online" section on the homepage for a knowledgeable looking blue-link and send them a message on their talk page). I wonder if you might want to add a little bit about yourself on your personal page? (Check out PersonalPages and 5 Great Reasons to Make a Personal Page for guidance or click my name below to see mine as an example.) Please don't hesitate to let me know if you'd like some assistance in accomplishing your goals on AboutUs, and if you fancy some help or new ideas I've found the help portal to be an excellent resource. Welcome to the AboutUs community - it's great to have you!

Have a most wonderful day!

Hello KristinaWeis and thank you for the kind welcome. Poking around and trying to get the lay of the land...so to speak. Please tell Brandon, Ray and Ted I said hello. Thnx again.

Hi Mark, we met at RecentChangesCamp.org in 2006. Nice to see you here and let me know if I can give you a personal tour of the place. Best, MarkDilley

Hey MarkDilley, yeah I remember meeting you at RCC...nice to see you here. Thnx for the offer of a tour, I may well take you up on it. I'd also love to see a handful of recently featured AboutUs wiki pages you think are standout examples of what can be done here. Thanks again and be well. MarkGrimes

Hi Mark, I will float that question over to TakKendrick - he has a better sense of that. I do know that organized information is the exciting part of this, once pages get to be good examples: check out the new work on many of theses Category:AboutUsPortals. Best, MarkDilley
  • Hi Mark, just saw the note Mark Dilley left me a couple weeks ago. Sorry it's taken that long to get back to you. Some great WikiPage examples: AmberJewelry.com, BalsamHill.com, SoftwareTipsPalace.com, 411Law.com, KudosHospitality.co.uk. As you can tell, we really encourage a variety of different things in great WikiPages. I think the biggest key here is to BeABuilder and the rest just naturally follows. It should be noted that some of these pages grew up on their own (ie we provided very little guidance); others were built out in steps, with the community giving lots of support and thoughts on improvements. Both ways are awesome to see for different reasons. Hope this helps. Buzz me if you have more questions or anything. -- TakCaricatureSm.jpg TakKendrick | Talk 13:20, 13 July 2007 (PDT)

TakKendrick, thank you so much. I'll spend some time looking around your examples and give some thought to the best outline for the Ned.com AboutUs WikiPage. Thank you again.

Hey Mark, I'm not sure if you have already been invited (sorry if you have) but I wanted to extend an invitation to WikiWednesday happening today and the first Wednesday of every month at our main office in Portland. There are more details on the homepage and let us know if you have any questions. Kristina | **talk** 12:46, 7 November 2007 (PST)

Hey Kristina, I would have visited, but have a meeting with Collins Foundation today at that time. I'll set aside the first Wednesday in December. Thanks for the invite.
