Benzaclin
Benzaclin Definition Benzaclin is a drug being used to treat acne vulgaris or irritation and redness caused by changes in the skin structure. As such it uses clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide gel for the treatment of acne.
How does Benzaclin works Benzaclin is very effective because it holds the combination of two very prompt ingredients namely benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin. Among both of these, the former fights against acne and at the same time lessen the inflammation caused due to acne. Patients who suffer from acne vulgaris have lots of oil in their skin which is dried with the use of benzoyl peroxide. On the other hand the later, Clindamycin is an antibiotic that fights against bacteria and reduces itching or burning sensation caused by pimples.
Benzaclin Side Effects There are certain side effects caused by the use of this drug such as:
1. Allergic reaction 2. Skin drying and peeling off 3. Skin rashes or burning sensation in skin areas 4. Increase sensitivity of the skin to sun exposure 5. Mild or moderate form of skin stinging
Benzaclin Precautions 1. If continuous use of the drug Benzaclin results in diarrhea and abdominal cramps, the patient should stop the use and meet the medical examiner.
2. In many cases where the skin of the patient is highly sensitive, it is recommended that one should avoid using other skin medications on the same area where Benzaclin is used.
3. Except under the direction of any physician, irritating cosmetics, cleansers, harsh medications should be avoided in the area of Benzaclin being useda.
4. Because of the fact that Benzoyl may cause bleaching it should be avoided to come in contact with hair coloring, clothing and colored towels.
5. This drug should never be used upon irritated skin, sunburns, chapped or dry skin that could worsen the condition.
6. The use of Benzaclin should be for external purposes and as such it should be avoided to come in contact with mouth, eyes, nose and other mucous membranes.
Always remember that it is very important that your medical practitioner should know about your illness history or what you are taking because some prescription medications do not interact well with other drugs. In fact, some drug interactions can be very dangerous in this case.
