The Dachshund Network began its email discussion group in 1995 under the name of Dachshunds@cybercom.net. Over the years, as servers changed, so did the list's name (The Dachshund Connoisseur and Zone, which was mentioned in the book, "Dogs on the Web”), until finally settling into its new domain, thedachshundnetwork.com.
The Web site was developed shortly after the list's inception as a place to provide crucial information for existing owners, along with those researching Dachshunds and pets in general.
