Description
Excerpted from the website:
- "jennimi is Jennifer E. Graham (Jenn Graham, Jennifer Graham), a technical services librarian at the University at Buffalo Libraries, eager to bring my web 2.0, customer service, communication, and organizational skills into the information commons of a forward-thinking academic community. Interested in all things library, I endeavor to evolve and contribute in the areas of reference, instruction, collection development, and interface - in person and virtually, independently and collaboratively. I am also interested in the sociological and cognitive motivations and implications for tagging, or user-defined subject terms. My philosophy of librarianship can be found at my librarianship page.
- I earned my undergraduate degree in Human Development at Cornell and my MLS in 2006 at the University at Buffalo, after a rewarding 12+ year career in social work. As a supervising social worker I learned not only how to conduct the ultimate reference interview - understanding that every decision was critical and keeping an eye focused on the next challenge - I learned how to manage, assess, evaluate, and triage; how to work on teams and on my own; and how prioritize individual, agency, and professional needs. I learned how to work for and with people. Making a difference in people’s lives is not new to me, and I believe my past experiences and more help to me enter librarianship with confidence, and a sincere spirit of contribution.
- I believe there has never been a more exciting time to be a librarian, that the only constant is change (and change is good!), and that music makes the people come together. In addition to librarianship and the web, I enjoy discussing music; media; my hometown of Buffalo, NY; nature; travel; family; friends; the future; and many other topics. I am enthusiastic and (usually) positive. I draw upon my experience, skills, education, network, and instincts to build content and publish this blog, which by its simplest definition is the publicly available version of me. This includes experiences, commentary, discussion, images, and references to additional resources, typically in the form of hyperlinks." © Jennifer E. Graham
