Build out PortlandTech (Nov. 1-15)
Our Work / Content / Tasks / Build out PortlandTech (Nov. 1-15) (ChrisBabson, TakKendrick, AsmaKhan, FatimaRaja, Mehrunnisa, Salihawaqar, Mariaw, Sanwal, User:Llywrch)
Description
Focus on filling out all of the pages we've collected in the PortlandTech category. Make sure to check the bottom of this page for specific notes on pages for each of us.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Write the description in your own words. It doesn't have to be extremely extensive or long, but it needs to effectively describe the company/site from an objective point of view. Refrain from using promotional language or simply rewording what they say on their site, although this may be a main source of information for you.
- Do make sure to do a search on Google to find other information (videos, news stories, etc). This is valuable.
Why?
These are the building blocks of the project - once these are all good, we can move on to higher level elements of the portal.
Done When
We have covered the entire Category:PortlandTech category. Keep track of work in progress on the bottom of this page in the appropriate section. Tak and Chris will review all the pages done and comment or mark them DoneDone. In the latter case, the pagename will have a strike through it on PortlandTech/DoneDone Pages - we will be keeping track of overall work done there.
Each page should have:
- Title - full name of company, organization, etc.
- Logo - upper left hand corner unless it works better elsewhere
- Description (in your own words)
- 1-6 sentences (1 paragraph)
- NOTE: delete the 'description' header - include this text under the title and after the logo
- Products, Services, etc - whatever the company offers
- Short description of product or service, pictures where relevant
- People
- Picture, Name (wikilink - SEE BELOW), Role at company
- News
- Any recent or notable news items - external link
- Example: SplashCastMedia.com
- Address and Contact info.
- Related Domains - add/remove sites here based on relevance
- External links - do a basic google search to see if anything important comes up; link to it here
- Tags: PortlandTech, etc. - remove irrelevant ones, add relevant terms
- For ideas or to add tags you come up with, see Portal:PortlandTech/SuggestedTagList.
More on People
For all wiki-linked names, you should fill out as much of the following information on their name page as you can:
- Picture
- Company
- Position
- Contact info (email, phone)
- Tags: PortlandTech, and perhaps a tag for their position as well (CEO, for instance)
Note: we may come back and add descriptions later, but this may also be done by the person themselves once we invite them to join the project. Don't worry about this for now.
Example Pages
We've taken some pages from the category and polished them to be as good as possible. Some of these had some great work on them already, so thanks to those who put in the effort to make a good example. In some cases we didn't have to add much; in others, a lot.
