Robot AboutUs

Votre Robot a besoin de modifications. Vous échouez à adhérer à l'initiative robots.txt. Un Robot est supposé accéder d'abord au fichier robots.txt et surtout avant _n'importe quel_ contenu extrait du site accédé-- pas après !

Je crois que c'est l'activité actuelle du robot et que ça l'a été depuis 8 mois. Nous avons vraiment réparé notre erreur suffisamment tôt, aussi il y a quelque contenu qui a été porté sur une erreur et nous sommes en train de travailler pour réparer cela. La page s'affiche avec un millier de noms de domaines au lieu de l'information de contact.> Je veux qu'une partie de mon information de contact soit ôtée de votre site, j'ai été choqué de voir ça sur un wiki et me suis enregistré pour faire ainsi. J'ai eu de gros problèmes de spam, ce site pourrait y contribuer.

En fait, votre page about us s'affiche avec les milliers de noms de domaines, beaucoup d'autres font ça aussi.

Votre affichage d'information privée pourrait être pourquoi quelqu'un a décidé de vous hacker.

Aussi et si d'autres sites font ainsi. Cela ne veut il pas dire que vous devriez faire aussi sans la permission des propriétaires, à moins que vous ne vouliez vraiment faire du mal. ces spammeurs sont des terroristes de l'email. pire de jour en jour. Tout site peut les aider à devenir aussi des terroristes.

Nous avons retiré votre inforamtion hors de la page wiki. Savez-vous que cette information est publique et que nous pensons que la sécurité par l'obscurité n'est pas de la sécurité. Pour ce qui concerne l'aide aux spammeurs, nous avons fait qu'il soit pratiquement impossible de moissonner les emails via ce site avec les instructions ici sur ProtectionEmail, ce qui se produit automatiquement. J'ai trouvé mon nom, mon adresse et mon numéro de téléphone - heureusement tous erronés. je les ai effacés. Et ajouté un commentaire à l'information pour cette modification. J'espère que c'est autorisé et que cela restera propre. Je pense que ce truc est déjà public, mais n'est normalement pas disponible dans une simple recherche Google, et même si c'est de la sécurité par l'obscurité, c'est une forme parfaitement acceptable de "limiter" le potentiel pour une découverte non désirée. Tout expert à moitié décent en sécurité défendra la sécurité par l'obscurité comme une partie utile de toute approche sémantique de la sécurité - ce pourrait être un contributeur minimal, mais c'est UN contributeur en quelque sorte. Je me demande combien de spammeurs scannent ce site pour y plonger et extraire des données ?

Nous protégeons l'email, par conséquent les spammeurs ne passeront probablement pas trop leurs énergies à décoder des images. Quels sont les autres façons dont vous pensez que les spammeurs pourraient utiliser ce site ? MarkDilley

amélioration du processus

Un problème de processus pour les nouveaux venus : quelqu'un place une note ou un message sur ma section discussion. Je réponds ensuite à cette personne dans ma propre section de discussion via la commande "edit", plutôt que de placer ma réponse sur la section de discussion de cette autre personne. (On m'ai dit que les procédure propre par quelques habitués d'aboutus).

Ceci me laisse penser, que quand j'édite ainsi ma propre page discussion, en ajoutant cette réponse, est-ce que l'autre personne saura - recevra t'elle quelque type de message automatique que j'ai produit une réponse à son commentaire (placé dans ma section discussion) ? Je pense aux nouveaux venus, ce processus pourrait être expliqué plus clairement.MartinPfahler

Hi MartinPfahler , I generally leave comments on a persons talk page rather than my own! That way it alerts the person that there is a message for them. It is a bit of a disrupted conversation that way, but I personally think it works better. What way do you think it will work for you? Mark, I think any way will work, its just to know what standard all people agree to use. Currently it seems there is no standard - which might cause confusion for new people. Perhaps to mention this "how to" issue in the aboutus tour or navigation section? Note Ted's related posting in today's "community" section.MartinPfahler

amélioration du processus

When people give suggestions about process issues, etc., it might help to set up some way to track these suggestions over time. For example a person might come back in a week, to see if their suggestion has resulted in a relevant change. Over time, if people don’t get this type of feedback, they tend to lose interest in giving suggestions. Some tracking feedback might be nothing more than, “our back end Techies have noted your suggestion but it is tough one to code, and it is currently way down our priority list, so it is unlikely to be implemented for at least six months” – which at least gives the suggestor some idea of the current status of their suggestion. Pour le profit

Why don't you use the aboutus.com domain (which is yours) if you are a for profit organization?

Or at least be very explicit about this, for a .org wiki is easily associated with non-profit.

Domaines

For some reason this site seems to auto generate information about www.domain.tld if you enter domain.tld. But these are two different domain names. There can be different sites behind. Also when one enters thirdlevel.domain.tld, it seems to generate information from www.domain.tld (again, not domain.tld which would be a logical choice if you would only whish to list second level domains). A suggestion is to first try domain.tld and if that does not exist, fall back to www.domain.tld.

I noticed that no one has yet made an AboutUs.org search plugin for Mozilla and Firefox. I tried to make one but had no luck using the generator at the Mycroft project, perhaps someone else would be better at it. I would love to be able to search Mozilla from my browser. The find box and bot don't make it obvious how to add a page for a subdomain. For instance, because Debian.org exists, looking for Planet.debian.org takes me there. Because PDX.edu exists, Psas.pdx.edu takes me there.

We all have enough trouble with the damn spammers as it is. If someone wants to contact me, they can go to my site and push the "email" button.

We post them in a graphic form, so they are not able to be harvested by a spam bot. Certainly someone could collect them by hand, and that is the same as the whois posting of them. MarkDilley

Carte Mini Site

I was working on a page (STVAction.org.uk) and decided to add a Mini Site Map. I have set up a draft template for others to use if they wish though I am sure it can be improved.

If people think this is a good idea please help improve the template. I assume it would be possible for the BOT to generate a mini site map from pages linked to frequently on the site and pages with titles such as home, index, faq, contact, about etc.

Codes Internationaux de Pays

International Country Codes are used as categories at YelloWikis.org. Can I suggest that such a categorisation might be useful here.

It might be possible to use the domain name extension of a site to categorise it e.g. "thisisanexample.co.uk" :

• category:GB (international country codes for uk)
• category:com (for commerce)
• category:.co.uk (to categorise by domain extension)

Liens :

• User:John_Cross/International_Country_Codes
• Country code from wikipedia

I would find it useful to be able to search all the ".gov.uk" sites for example.

All you need to do is edit the page, go to the bottom of the page and remove the category there. You'll see something like: [[Category:Whatever]]. Problème avec la mise à jour de vignette ?

Is there a problem with thumbnail update at domaintools? When you click "Que thumbnail for update" the text changes to "Thumbnail qued for update" but nothing happens. I have qued mine for update something like three days ago, but it still the same, from 2004, and the site has changed a lot since then.

The thumnbnail update does not happen immediately. It could take a while. This help file from DomainTools should help a little. If you need further help, please comment back. — Nathan ^(talk)_{/ 15:59, 7 May 2007 (UTC)}

This help file says that the update should happen in less than an hour, although it could take longer. As I said, I have queued mine a few days ago, and I think that I have tried again even earlier, perhaps a few months back, but the thumbnail still shows my site as it was in 2004. Perhaps you should check to make sure the feature works.

OK, today is May 9, and the thumbnail is still the same (a correction though, it's not from 2004, it's from 2006). That's two days. As I said, I am almost certain that I had also tried to update it a few months back, and it didn't work, but anyway, if you say that the feature works but it just takes more time, I'll wait.

May 11, thumbnail not updated yet 4 days after I queued it. (I'll be updating this from time to time.)

Maybe it would be better to say, Make an offer on this domamin. I don't personally understand why it is so upsetting, as the person who owns the domain, you would have final say about whether or not you would want to take the offer. Can you explain to me more why it upsetts you? MarkDilley

I think it would be cool -- and it would help people spruce up their pages -- if you automagically generated interwiki map entries for any sites you discover are wikis.

Barring that, would you be willing to add EcoReality and Veggie Van Gogh to your intermap? They are both in MediaWiki's intermap, but apparently don't get distributed with the MW distros.
