About IveGotAFang.com
I've Got A Fang is a collaborative project that seeks to identify parked domains on the web. Parked Domains refer to the registration of an internet domain name without that domain being associated with any services such as email or a website. There are legitimate situations where someone may want to buy a domain and not associate it with something, such as:
- the content is coming soon
- a company is trying to protect against cybersquatting.
But, there are also not so nice reasons -- when a parked domain is:
- created to be monetized by placing ads and catching accidental traffic
- cybersquatted to be sold back at a premium to the owner after domain's lease has not renewed
- a wordplay on spelling of popular websites.
Partnership with DuckDuckGo.com
IveGotAFang.com recently partnered with DuckDuckGo.com to develop tools to better identify and organize parked pages on the web.
Their collaboration resulted in a Firefox extension that lets folks avoid such domains including:
- detection of badly spelled domains
- report parked domains
- and report false positives.
Common Parked Pages Layouts
If you have stumbled on parked pages as much as we have, you will quickly start noticing them just by their layout. Here are some common examples of parked pages for reference.
If you're like most people, you've probably been to these domains unwittingly, usually either through search engine links or by slightly mistyping a Web address. In essence, they are at best a waste of time.I've Got A Fang
Additional Information

- To tag a website as a parking lot on AboutUs, simply add {{ParkingLot}} to it.
