Why Not Korea-living, teaching and finding ESL jobs in Korea

Description

The South Korean flag, called the “ Taegeukgi ”, was designed in 1882 by Bak Yeong-ho, the Korean ambassador to Japan during the reign of King Gojong. It became the official flag of South Korea on March 6th, 1883. Its white background represents peace, and the central emblem represents the complete unity of all being. The red upper half and blue lower half, represent Yin (negative) and Yang (positive), or the duality of the universe. The black bars in the four corners are called “Triagrams”, and come from the ancient I Ching (Book of Changes). The three solid lines of the triagram in the upper left represent Heaven; and opposite in the lower right, the three broken lines represent Earth. The two broken lines separated by an unbroken line in the upper right trigram, represent Water; and opposite in the lower left, the two unbroken lines separated by a broken line represent Fire. These four triagrams again signify the duality of opposites. During the Japanese invasion and colonial rule (1910-1945), the flag was outlawed until its revival in 1945.
