Built in 1870 by Robert Atkinson as the The Waverley Temperance Hotel, the building itself has not changed a great deal over the last 130 years. It still has most of the original features intact, from the oak front door to the pitch pine stairs with stained glass window, carved marble fire place, beautiful pitch pine panelling in the lounge even all the original pine doors throughout.
Now in the hands of the Walker family Ron, Alison and children Tom, Jack and Harriet, we are lovingly restoring, but taking great care to retain the original features and fabric of the building's Victorian past, while incorporating the modern luxuries of the twenty first century.
We are a small family run business and pride ourselves in looking after our guests, doing our very best to make your stay with us a relaxing and well fed one (Our Lakeland breakfast is legendary). Alison, with many years of catering experience in local restaurants, prepares and cooks all meals to order using only the finest local produce and the freshest vegetables.
