User talk:Muchadoaboutsomething

Hello Muchadoaboutsomething and welcome to the AboutUs community. I love your article on Gotrythm.com. The images are brilliant and I love this genre of music too. Your page is already pretty well developed but if you would like to develop it further let me know and I'll try and help. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Tanwir Shah

Hi, Good to hear from you again. I had a look at your page and tried moving the image up so that it was above the title. I couldn't save it because I think you are busy making changes too. But not to worry. The logo looked a little too big next to the text and I tried reducing the size but I couldn't because it is part of a website address. Perhaps it would be better and easier to have just an image added to the page which you can then play around with.

It's not too difficult to do. Have a look at this page Help:Working with images and it will give you step by step instructions on how to create an image.

Give me another shout if you get stuck but I will look in a little later to see how you are getting on.

All the best Tanwir Shah

I really like your logo and losing it from the page would be a shame. Have a look at your page now and see if it looks okay to you. Don't give up on it all together though. I could ask some of the technical folk at work in the morning. There must be a way to do it.

As far as the email is concerned it is converted into an image so that it can't be harvested by robots. They are usually readable though. Is it illegible on your monitor? Tanwir Shah

Okay I think I have it but you will have to wait until tomorrow morning when I get back into the office. I will hopefully be able to save your image as a .jpg file and then upload it and slap it onto your page. Cinderella will go to the ball. I love your logo too much to give it up without a fight. :D Tanwir Shah

Hi, Have a look at your page now (I managed to make the changes on my much slower home computer). You can change the size of your logo by changing the pixel figures when you edit it.

Gotrhythm4 wb.jpg

Press edit on the right of the 'Your Logo' title and look at the image above. In this logo the figure at the end is 100px, in Gotrhythm.com it is 200px. You can play around with this figure until you are happy with the size. I have also changed the size of the title by adding only one = before and after the title you can reduce the size of the title by adding more = signs before and after. I hope all this makes sense. If you were happy with the original version of the page you can always change it back, no problem.

Keep shouting if you have any more problems or questions. I'm always glad to help. Tanwir Shah

Have a look at the image above after clicking edit. Notice the pipe (|) and center after 100px? If you do that to your image it will be centered. As far as I know you can make your fonts bold or change them into italics but the fonts themselves cannot be changed. What you could do though is to create a font as an image and then add it to your page just like your logo. Have a look at User:Gilehery. A lot of his titles are images. Hope this helps things Tanwir Shah

Have a look at your email now. It is an image and you can increase or decrease its size by adding a value for the pixels just like in your logo. As it is an image it will not be harvested by robots. Pretty good eh. :D Has it solved the clarity problem? Tanwir Shah

Muchadoaboutsomething: No problem. I found things difficult when I started editing too. When you click on edit you should see this:

Image:Gotrhythm4_wb.jpg|100px|center

Your image is Gotrhythm4_wb.jpg the information that comes after this is the instructions on what to do with the image. 100px is the size of the logo on this page. 200px is the size I gave the logo on your page but you can increase or reduce this figure.

The pipes separate the instructions. You can see one before the size instructions and one after just before center. The center instruction is self explanatory. You could also have left or right depending on where you wanted to place your logo. I hope this is a little easier to understand. Technology can be a little difficult to understand at first but with a little time it can work wonders. I'm quite new at this myself and I have recently been working on my own project TheStorytellersBazaar and with some help have made some great improvements. Tanwir Shah

Your email

I can read it quite clearly but I'll check and see it this is a common problem and how it can be remedied. Tanwir Shah

Featured nomination

Just got your note. No problem. One of my co-workers saw the page and suggested that it be nominated. It looks pretty good. I'll add more notes on the page in a day or so (as part of the nomination process), but first glance seems like it's a pretty cool page. -- TakKendrick

Creating another page

Hi again. Don't worry about asking questions that's what we are here for. The more questions you ask the happier we are :-)

Creating another page and linking it to your existing page couldn't be easier. Just write the name of the page you want to make and put double square brackets round it. Like this [[ ]].

For example Lahore and CatsCalledTom. You can see that one of the links is blue and the other is red. The blue link leads to a page that has something in it. The red link is a new link and as yet has nothing in it. To start adding information you simply click on the link and start writing. If the link is a website like GotRhythm.com then the robot automatically creates a framework, a thumbnail and a link to the website. All you need to do is to add to this. Hope this helps. Storyteller's Bazaar

Hello Muchadoaboutsomething,

Have you paid a visit to TheStorytellersBazaar yet? If not, please do. It's jam packed with all sorts of writing activities. Read some of the contributions and hopefully they will inspire you to contribute too. The more you contribute the better the site will become. Come and have a look and enjoy. Tanwir Shah

Screenshots

Hi Nice to hear from you again. Sorry about getting back to you so late. I wanted to get a second opinion on the screenshot issue and I also wanted to make the Storyteller's Bazaar more user friendly so that I could ask you to revisit and see if it is easier to follow.

There is no problem with screenshots as long as they meet the license agreements. You can read about this through the link at the bottom of the page.

I have made some changes in the Storyteller's Bazaar and would be really grateful if you could spend some time looking at the front page to see if it is a little more user friendly. There's no rush. Have a look whenever you have a spare minute.

Finally, congratulations on having GotRhythm.com featured on the AboutUs homepage. It really deserved to be. Tanwir Shah

WhoWeAre

Hi,

I would just like to tell you about the WhoWeAre consensus poll. This is a unique opportunity for all community members to discuss and decide what AboutUs is and more importantly what role we, the community, plays.

The discussion is still in its initial stages and there are a handful of people involved in this discussion. But it's not enough. Every one of us has a stake in this process. We all need to air our views. Our opinions will make a difference. We cannot and must not let a handful of people define us. We must speak out and contribute because we are being defined and I for one would like to have a say in how I am being defined.

Please contribute to this really important project. Without you it cannot successfully create a good definition of who we are. Tanwir Shah

NewSkin Beta Preview

Hello MuchAdo!

We've noticed your contributions and are glad to be on the AboutUs team with you! As an ActiveMember your energy and ideas determine our future direction. One way that ActiveMembers stay "in the loop" is to participate in the beta previews of large new changes to the site before they are generally released.

Today we're starting a limited beta preview of an earthy NewSkin intended to reflect the alive and growing AboutUs community. The NewSkin is designed to feel wholesome and connected with the real world. This choice was made to reassure the many folks who feel that the internet is a "scary place" where mean people hide behind fake identities and shout insults at each other. We hope that the NewSkin evokes our values in a way that helps visitors and members alike feel grounded in true community.

We'd love your help putting the NewSkin through its paces! To give it a whirl you'll need to be logged in. Once you are logged in, go to "my preferences" | "skin" and select "design". Don't forget to then click the "save" button! You can always go back to the current skin by selecting "aboutus" via the same steps.

Your feedback on the new look for aboutus will help ensure that it has a maximally positive impact when we roll it out. Thanks for being a valuable member of the community, we look forward to your feedback on the NewSkin page!

Warm Regards,
the DevelopmentTeam

WhoWeAre Stage 2

Hi Muchadoaboutsomething,

Having made significant progress with WhoWeAreStage1 in reaching 100% consensus, we are now ready to get on with stage 2. This consensus poll, as you know, has been started to make a collective decision as to the identity, values and mission statement of AboutUs, and as such it can't be complete without all of us participating. WhoWeAre Stage 2 is in progress; you are most welcome to have a look at the page and set your status accordingly and/or change the document to improve it. Best, Obed Suhail 02:24, 3 October 2007 (PDT)
