Welcome

Hello Comperr! Welcome to AboutUs.

I noticed your edits to the wiki DomainPage for Tricks4Sale.com and I'm excited that you've chosen to explore the wonderful world of wiki here at AboutUs.org - the place where everyone may collaborate to build the commons and community through their constructive edits and participation. Welcome! Check out the brand new tours to learn about wiki, what AboutUs.org is all about and how to use the site to the fullest. Also, for more ideas on how to spruce up a DomainPage see How to improve AboutUs website pages... and perhaps your page could even be featured on the homepage.

Be sure to let us/me know if you have any questions along the way (you can leave a message on my talk page via the talk link by my name, join the AboutUs WebIRC here, or check the "currently online" section on the homepage for a knowledgeable looking blue-link and send them a message on their talk page). I wonder if you might want to add a little bit about yourself on your personal page? (Check out PersonalPages and 5 Great Reasons to Make a Personal Page for guidance or click my name below to see mine as an example.) Please don't hesitate to let me know if you'd like some assistance in accomplishing your goals on AboutUs, and if you fancy some help or new ideas I've found the help portal to be an excellent resource. Welcome to the AboutUs community - it's great to have you!

Have a most wonderful day!

I just noticed your edit to WelcomingPeople. Each one of us has our own style of welcoming and I try to make sure to extend the olive branch of contact to as many as possible and to include lots of helpful links. When I am welcoming users that clearly know what they're doing (like you) I don't have much to say beyond opening up the conversation and welcoming them, while other users definitely need some specific guidance and pointers.

What suggestions would you offer for our welcoming procedures/messages, or if you like you could join our team of welcomers as well. I'd love to hear from you - have a great day! KristinaWeis | **talk** 00:57, 2 July 2007 (PDT)

I'm sorry - I just get annoyed when someone uses {{subst:welcomemessage}} or anything like that.. Comperr 08:27, 2 July 2007 (PDT)

I'm confused by your edit to Template talk:Domain Page...? And I don't use a template of that sort for my welcome message. I won't lie there is some copy and pasting going on, but it isn't automated like that. KristinaWeis | **talk** 12:38, 2 July 2007 (PDT)

OK....fine....just with {{PAGENAME}}</wiki> instead of my name thought you copied it. I don't mean to be so annoying...just 1/1000th ☺ As for the talk edit....why not use dnsstuff.com instead of the current service for the template - there are more features and stuff. You can include a link to the whois info as well.

Hmm, luckily I was patrolling Special:RecentChanges or else I wouldn't have noticed your message to me (mind putting them on my talk page in the future?). I don't actually know much about dnsstuff.com so I'm asking MarkDilley. We have ties with DomainTools so that's why we use them, but if you want to make a category tag for sites that can do this sort of thing... maybe something like Category:Website look-up site thingies, with a more technical and better phrased name than that. If you want to jump in the AboutUs Web IRC I'm sure Mark and the other technical boys could give you a more thorough answer as well. Cheers! Oh, and that pagename thing is something a friend/really active user Nathan added for me, I didn't ask for it but I think it's pretty cool so that I don't typo people's names and thus not have links work, etc. KristinaWeis | **talk** 14:28, 2 July 2007 (PDT)

I am used to wikipedia where most discussion like this are on page_talks. Sure - I don't mind making that category....and I'll post on LiveChat as well.
