AboutMe

Joyce Akers is a single mother/grandmother who had a dream to one day own and operate a gym for children. She wanted a place where her grandkids and other children could go that was safe, fun and where they could play games like she did as a child. Games like jump rope, skipit, rec. ball, bouncy ball, etc. and benefit from the healthy exercise that she got out of these childhood games.

There are so many of our children suffering from obesity and other illness i.e. stroke, hypertension, depresssion" because of lack of exercise and healthy diets, primary because our children's lack of interest and/or the introduction to them, because of lack of gym classes in school and our love of computer and video games.

The all of the above and her love for children contributed to her opening a children's gym. Akers' Gym for Kids LLC is a new and unique experience, located in Philadelphia's prestigous Jeweler's Row area downtown Center City, convenient to regional and public transportation.
