Baltimore, MD - Special Libraries Association is this week. I spoke this morning with another panelist – Oleg Boyarsky. I was a little afraid (well, not afraid per se but more concerned) based on what I perceived was his personality. He’s actually quite a well-spoken charming man and it was a pleasure to speak with him about RFID . We had about 60 people for our session. After that, I had lunch with my friend Brian (we went to library school) at Tir Na Nog. I had bangers and mash…yum. Last night Dale and I had dinner with Cynthia – at Legal Sea Foods. Excellent food! I had lobster and sausage gnocchi. I’m staying with Dale and Steve out in the ‘burbs and taking the train in to downtown. So far it’s been a fun time – I took Rufus with me on the plane. I was afraid he would cry the whole time but he was an angel! It’s been fun to have him with me here.
Yesterday I left my journal on the plane in the seat pocket. I was a little bummed but then, since I also lost my wallet on Friday night (again)- I decided to not get too upset about it. This guy found my wallet though and he is going to send it to me and then late last night I got a call from this man in St. Louis. He said that he had found my journal in the seat pocket and would send it to me as well! There are nice people in the world still. Also, I sent in my iPod to be fixed recently and it came back on Saturday finally. In the box, there were TWO iPods. Mine and someone elses. WHOOPS ! I’m going to do the right thing and let them know. Ok I think that is it for now.
Tallahassee, FL - So here I am in the Tallahassee Regional Airport and they have FREE wireless. This is how it should be, don’t you think? I’m sitting here looking out over the tarmac at the 95+ degrees and extremely high humidity and extremely high UV rating for today reflecting on my week here. It’s been a really good one I have to say! I taught at the PLAN offices on Tuesday and Wednesday (Blogs on Tuesday and PDA ’s on Wednesday), drove on the 98 from Panama City to Pensacola…taught Local Holdings Maintenance at University of West Florida yesterday and then drove back to Tallahassee and taught it again here at Tallahassee Community College. Whew! I’m ready to go home though but it’s been productive. Heading home right now but then head back out again on Sunday to Baltimore to attend SLA and speak on Monday morning about RFID . At UWF , I ran into my old prof from lib school, Dr. Summers! That was cool. Looking forward to seeing Rufus later tonight…
