Description

SamLiew.com is a personal website about Samuel Liew, created and maintained by Samuel Liew as a hobby.

History

The content at SamLiew.com was created in late 2001 from a web-design course taken by Samuel Liew. He constantly improved on it, adding features and information along the way, changing self-created templates, while seeking reviews from friends and forums.

During the early beginnings of this website, it was hosted in several addresses as the need grew, and more space and bandwidth required, or there were annoying advertisments added by the host. Here is the list of the sites that it was hosted at (in chronological order):

Currently the website's template is the 10th version.

There were other hosts that were used for testing several scripts, and used for development. Here is the list of the sites that were used (in no order):

A blog (http://samuelliew.blogspot.com) was started in early 2003, and it was linked to from the site. There were several revisions to the template. Now it is re-created at (http://www.samliew.com/blog/), powered by wordpress, with most of the archives from the old blog.

Scripting

Although simple DHTML was used during the first few versions of the website, JavaScript (or JScript) was added during the period when it was hosted at g-e-tech.com. The host offered free hosting with PHP and without advertisements, which allowed for improvement and addition of ideas not possible with the previous hosts.

Also, Samuel joined HTML Help Central forums and overtime have coded several scripts for the members. These and other scripts that he did are being showcased in his programming page.

A few of his scripts are worth noting for effort:
