- My name is Gary Sonnenberg. I started Proof & Design in June of 2004 when I saw a need for proofreading on various Web sites that had obviously been written in another language and then translated into English. Realizing that it can be difficult for people who do not speak English as their native language to write it as if it were, I began to promote myself as someone who could help make Web site text sound more natural especially to the American ear. Many thanks to Ilja at WiredPlane for allowing his site to be my first project.
