Based at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., JFIIT is a geographically-separate, multi-service unit of USJFCOM, assessing current capabilities and developing recommendations to improve the conduct of joint fires.
Joint fires occur when two or more services use lethal and non-lethal weapons in coordinated action toward a common objective. The goal is to apply overwhelming combat power to a decisive point.
Established Feb. 24, 2005, JFIIT is the result of the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) approved incorporation of the Joint Close Air Support (JCAS) Joint Test Team with the Joint Combat Identification Evaluation Team (JCIET).
