Pavilions and Pools offers poolside privacy at each of its 25 condominium-style villas. Spread out across two hillside acres with see-forever views, each of the modern villas features its own private swimming pool surrounded by a patio/deck perfect for lounging. The villas come in two sizes, but all have bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, bath, and dressing areas with a sunken shower surrounded by garden greenery. The furniture is rattan, the floors ceramic tile, and the ambience modern tropical. All units are air-conditioned with fans. Several of the units are wheelchair accessible. Grocery shopping or snacks can be found at Plaza Extra Supermarket in Tutu Park Mall (10-minute ride away and next to K-Mart) or Marina Market (one mile away in Red Hook). Sapphire Beach, one of the island’s most exquisite full-service beaches, is just a five-minute walk away. If you want to get a bit further afield, a taxi or rental car can take you wherever you want to go. This hotel is on the island’s East End, which makes it the perfect jumping off spot for a trip to nearby St. John with its V.I. National Park and the British Virgin Islands. St. John offers super beaches, great hiking and lots of duty-free shops. Pavilions and Pools serves a limited dinner every night except Friday. There are also excellent restaurants nearby. Romano’s, an upscale Italian restaurant on the road to Coki Beach and the Coral World undersea observatory. The downtown Charlotte Amalie duty-free shopping district with its jewelry and gift stores is about a 20-minute ride away, but for a last-minute souvenir try the nearby Red Hook area. Pavilions and Pools is a perfect honeymoon getaway offering lots of privacy. But if you’re itchin’ to socialize a bit, the Tuesday night manager’s party makes it easy to mingle with the hotel’s other guests.
