In 1999, Stair Organic Growers were 'Highly Commended' by The Loraine Trust, who run an award promoting good and profitable organic husbandry in harmony with concerns for wildlife.
Stair Organic Growers is a small family business based at Stair near Tarbolton in Ayrshire. We grow and deliver organic fruit and veg to homes and businesses throughout Ayrshire, Glasgow, and Renfrewshire.
Starting in 1996, we began digging the ground and building the infrastructure needed to run an organic smallholding. With help from neighbours and friends of time and equipment, we managed to start growing in 1997. In June of that year we sold our first produce, strawberries, a crop which proved to be a great tasting introduction to our customers. Experiencing a steep learning curve, we continued to increase our supply of fruit and vegetables to local pubs and hotels and to a local Organic retailer, Sundrum Organics.
