NZMac.com has been established to provide a web site dedicated to bringing the New Zealand Macintosh community together. It is hoped that NZ Mac users, User Groups, companies and institutions will take an active part in using the site and possibly contributing to it. NZ news, events and information, as well as informative articles and reviews will be placed on the site. Through the use of discussion forums, buy/sell areas, NZ news and information with a specific New Zealand flavour, it's hoped to provide a web site that Mac users in New Zealand will look to as their main source of all things Macintosh.
Initially launched on January 1st, 2003 by Philip Roy (www.bluengrey.com), the site had been a long time in the making. Throughout the course of 2002, Philip began to mull over the idea of developing a web site for New Zealand Mac users. It was only in late 2002 that he was able to put in a lot (and he means a lot!) of hours into developing the site and getting it up and running. Philip writes the multimedia section of New Zealand Macguide Magazine, as well as being a freelance web and multimedia developer. He works part-time for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Massey University, as their E-Learning Facilitator and with a background in teaching, was also recognised as a Flexible Learning Leader in New Zealand in 2004.
