NerdPunk.com is the official website of artist and internet phenomenon Brent Simon. Brent is a self-proclaimed "Nerd Punk." He is basically a guy who works at his family grocery store and writes songs on his synthesizer in his spare time. His songs focus on nerdy subject matter such as the trip he took to "Space Camp" and the internet file shiaring system "Bittorrent." Thanks to viral video and social networking sites like YouTube.com and MySpace.com, Brent's songs have cultivated a bit of a cult following.
The term "Nerd Punk" is an accurate description of his music. It's nerdy, which is obvious. But punk? It's not punk in the aspect of anarchist anthems and chants of "Oi!". But it's punk in the sense that it's DiY, fast, and catchy. Brent said the old punk bands couldn't play music, so they just played loud and fast. He says that's him.
He has become a musical inspiration to aspiring keyboard players and nerds alike. Some claim him to be the champion of all nerds and he is worshipped in some local circles.
