Title
The Light of Alexandria, by James Maynard. A history of the first 1,000 years of science and how it helped to shape Greece, Rome and the World.
Description
This work is a life-long goal for the author. Ever since first becoming enamored with the Library of Alexandria from the Carl Sagan series “Cosmos,” James Maynard has longed to write an entire book on the subject and how the lives of the scientists involved were shaped by and helped to shape, the world around them.
James Maynard has a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and physics, with a minor in history, from Keene State College in New Hampshire.
For three years, Maynard wrote “StarWatch,” a weekly newspaper column on astronomy, which was published in New Hampshire and Vermont. He also taught the astronomy study sessions as a student instructor at Keene State College for three semesters and has guest lectured in classrooms and at various events throughout New England.
