The goal was to see how it held up, and look for technical glitches. The phone has had 10,000 hours of use and testing with at least half of that being calls. This is a spectacular amount of test time, with most phones getting less than half of this. The testers have been going everywhere an average human would go, restaurants, subways, etc.
