Description

Excerpted from the website:

I am currently a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University majoring in Computer Science. I became interested in computers at the age of 4 when my parents bought our first family computer, a MacIntosh, LC. Since then I've wanted to study and pursue a career involving computers. After attending computer camp in middle school I became very interested in programing and have worked on various projects in my free time. In late middle school and high school after purchasing a TI 83-plus for my math class, I became interested in programming for graphing calculators. After finding ticalc.org I learned Zilog 80 assembly programming and submitted several programs to the site. I also submitted one of my applications to a Texas Instruments sponsored competition and won an honorable mention. At around the same time I was getting interest in building websites. After playing around with several free hosting services in 10th grade I decided to set up my own web server hosted off my families broadband connection. Setting up the server was a challenge but I ended up learning a lot, especially about Linux in the process. After approaching computers from an armature perspective, I got an internship at Mitre the summer after senior year where I worked on a few web applications. Despite this job, my interest in armature programming did not decrease and at the same time I worked on a online web directory for my outgoing high school class using many of the things I had learned at work. Now that I am at Carnegie Mellon, although most of my large projects are school related I still take the time to program on my own, mainly small projects in areas that interest me.
