History
Delano was first built in 1947. The original architect was Robert Swartburg. Delano’s tower is four-winged and is one of the tallest buildings in the area. It was re-opened by Morgans Hotel Group in June 1995 with design by the famed designer Philippe Starck.
Design Features
“Indoor/Outdoor Lobby” – first hotel in America with an indoor and outdoor lobby.
The Blue Door Restaurant and the Brasserie – It is under the direction of restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow and renowned chef Claude Troisgros.
The Blue Sea – located in the middle of the lobby.
The Rose Bar – It is six different indoor and outdoor food and beverage areas.
“Water Salon” - conceived by Philippe Starck as his first exercise in pool design. Features include underwater classical music, a continuous waterfall and furniture in the pool.
