Sustainablog today posted a great piece on how earlier this week NYS Gov. Pataki and State Senate Majority leader Joseph Bruno announced a$10 million fund to convert 600 state vehicles to plug-in hybrids. Also announced was a state-of-the-art alternative fuel research laboratory at the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park (STEP).
Not only does this help the environment, but it boosts the upstate economy. After reading Robert F. Kennedy’s Crimes Against Nature: How George W. Bush and His Corporate Pals Are Plundering the Country and Hijacking Our Democracy , I think it’s about time we started giving clean, environmentally friendly technologies the government support that we’ve given big oil and coal.
Coverage in the Times Union noted that Pataki was encouraged by the agreement between British Prime Minister Tony Blair and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to work together on the problem of global warming.
