Title
Chinese Institute of Engineers - USA
Description
The Chinese Institute of Engineers (CIE) is one of the earliest not-for-profit engineering societies in USA. It was first founded in 1917 in the United States by a group of able, dedicated and far-sighted Chinese engineers, who graduated from American Universities and were trained in American railroads and industries. They were the earliest Chinese engineers exposed to modern technologies, and were responsible for most of the early technology transfer between US and China and led to the industrialization of China. (Click the History link on the left for more on CIE history.
The CIE-USA National Council was established in 1986 to accommodate the geographical growth of CIE members distributed in major centres throughout the Unites States. Today, members of CIE-USA include Six chapters.
Our chapter members come from very diverse engineering disciplines: Telecommunication (Wireless Communication, Microelectronics, Optical Networking, ATM and IP Data Networking), Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical industry, Software Engineering, and so on.
