Category:T1 Line

A T1 line is a T-carrier signaling originally from Bell Labs. A T1 is also considered a DS1 which is a widely used standard in the telecom or broadband industry in the U.S. to transmit voice and data between devices. E1 is used in place of T1 outside of North America. Technically, DS1 is the transmission protocol used over a physical T1 line; however, the terms "DS1" and "T1" are often used interchangeably.

T1 uses pulse code modulation and time-division multiplexing to deliver voice and data information simultaneously. T1 is a digital transmission service that can be divided into 24 voice channels for carrying voice and data. The entire 1.544 Mbps bandwidth, or any portion of this, can be used as a single high-speed data channel. A DS1 is also a full-duplex circuit, meaning, in theory, the circuit can send 1.544 Mbit/s and receive 1.544 Mbit/s concurrently.

The pricing for a T1 line can vary from $299 per month to $1,000 per month depending on the location.
