I saw Borat the other day, and it was definitely pretty funny and very unique. It’s unscripted and was filmed guerilla-style, with Sacha Baron Cohen reportedly remaining in character as the fictitious Kazakhstan reporter throughout filming. The result is almost voyoueristic in a “Candid Camera” way — you can’t tell who is in on the joke and who is completely in the dark. Borat doesn’t make fun of people so much as give them the rope to hang themselves. Plus, he’s pretty funny himself. I don’t know if I’d go along with the whole “funniest movie of the year”, but it’s definitely good. I’d recommend it — see it in the theater or Netflix it.
