- At the moment, TV shows are broadcast in analog AND digital, but from that day on, there will be no more analog broadcasts. The switch over is known as “the Digital TV Transition” (DTV). If your current TV is an old model that does not receive digital broadcasts, you will need to obtain a digital-to-analog converter box which will allow you to continue to watch television on that set. The Government has set up a “Digital to Analog Converter Box Coupon Program” This began in January 2008 and each household can apply to the NTIA for up to TWO coupons of $40 each to help towards buying digital to analog converter boxes. The cost of these boxes will be around $60 to $80.
