- Alvarado is conveniently located at the intersection of Interstate 35 W and US Highway 67 in the southeast corner of Johnson County. Alvarado is a rural, farming community, which is quickly becoming a bedroom community for the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro area. There are two chain grocery stores, two chain discount merchandise stores, six fast food franchises, three locally owned restaurants, and many other businesses located inside the city limits.
