Future of Tennis Alexus "ACE" Jones Junior Champion From the Blueprint of Venus and Serena Williams The Worlds Best #1 USA
Description
Recently I've been experimenting with different types of spin on the ball during the service motion and have become confused with the term 'slice serve'.
Does this imply that there is underspin on the ball, and sidespin to make it spin to the left (Assuming you are a right hander and you are looking at the path of the ball from your point of view)? If so, this gives the ball a "floating" path of motion as it "sails" over the net, bouncing low on impact. Does this knd of serve have high net clearance and margain for error? Personally, I think not. But just out of interest, roughly how many % of pros use this specific type of serve as their second serve?
I have always heard that spin makes the ball go in, but more specifically, TOPSPIN makes the ball go in. If this is the case, and one wants to serve a ball which has TOPSPIN and SIDESPIN (to make it swerve to the left), they should toss the ball behind them, and towards their right hand side. And this has a higher net clearance and margain for error compared to the aforementioned 'slice serve'. Am I correct?
