概要平成15年（2003年）に静岡市と清水市が合併し、新・静岡市が誕生しました。これに伴い、旧・静岡市国際交流協会と静岡市清水国際交流協会で合併のための話し合いが持たれ、平成16年（2004年）4月1日に、新・静岡市国際交流協会が設立されました。新しい愛称も静岡市国際交流協会の英語表記「Shizuoka City Association for Multicultural Exchange」の頭文字をとって「ＳＡＭＥ（セイム）」と名づけられました。SAMEは英語で、「同一」の意味があることから、当協会は人と人とが国籍を問わず、平和で豊かな社会を目指して共に歩んでいくために、国際交流活動を推進する団体でありたいと願います。
