About
CIX International is a future website. It will be the home of CIX (pronounced siks) International, an online-based company, specializing in web and graphic design.
As the new homepage of FP Interactive, it will have some form of hosting service, likely to be called CIX Hosting. In addition, the website's small staff has announced both a file uploading service and a short URL service to be introduced in the near future.
CIX International, which specializes in website content and design, may offer additional design services for a fee. The website's designated release date was originally March 28th, 2009, but is now to be announced. CIX uses ArcadiaHost to host their website.
Hosting
CIX International offers hosting through a seperate company, which is also operated by them. For more information on this, see ArcadiaHost.
Shortr
Shortr is a service that was introduced by CIX International in early 2009. It was created with NetXeo, which also offer their own short URL service. Their URL service shrinks URLs into a URL simaler to http://s.cix.cc/?t7f7na. It requires no sign-up, only the desired URL to be shortened, and a spam test. It doesn't allow customization of URLs.
History
CIX International was previously known as FP Hosting. Although FP Hosting was the name it was referred to by, the implied name for the ownership company was FP Interactive.
FP Interactive wasn't always called by this alias, either. At one point in time famouspenguins.biz was called simply Famous Penguins, and this history allows for the domain name to make sense. Famous Penguins started out as a small fansite for Club Penguin, an MMORPG game that allows users to create their own penguin avatar and chat with one another. Famous Penguins featured users with rare items and unique styles, but the criteria for being dubbed a "famous penguin" changed later on, until the "famous penguin pages/list" concept was ditched altogether. It was hosted by Piczo, and later hosted by Yahoo! Geocities.
