Description

How does this build community?

Of the three major annual wiki events, RecentChangesCamp is the most closely aligned with the spirit of AboutUs. RecentChangesCamp connects wiki and process technology people with community organizers.

Ideally we, the community that is caring for AboutUs, will come together from all over the world to meet each other and our kindred from other wikis face to face at RecentChangesCamp 2008. We'll build trust, exchange ideas, and barnraise some projects that energize the entire wiki community and further the AboutUs mission.

An ideal mix of folks includes thought leaders and "in the trenches" newbies and experts alike from the following communities:

  • Wiki (all of them if possible)
  • Community organizing
  • Process Arts (open space, non-violent communication, appreciative inquiry, etc)
  • Open Source (especially those who are leading successful projects)
  • Online technology (those who write the blogs and articles that technology mavens read)

Done When

  • The generic invitation is done and polished with buy-in from Eugene Eric Kim and the other conveners
    • This of course means that the date/location is firmly established :-)
  • A list of at least 20 "Notable" kindred spirits has been compiled, each name is complete with likely contact person (closest or most likely to garner a positive response), and contact information
