Description
There are other sites that do some of these things, of course. The mission of toolbot.com is to keep the implementation fast and the interface clean; to have fun making stuff; and to encourage the discovery and use of publicly available information.

Best review ever [about]: Just came across this great old mention of toolbot.com: "toolbot.com is a site I discovered recently that is awesome." All right! (2005-09-10)
No more arbitrary tags [link]: With a heavy heart the "tag" option has been removed. This means that "shortened" URLs will now always contain at least part of the original domain name. This makes them more trustworthy (you know that the link redirects to that domain or a subdomain of it), and it means the end of annoying "tricky" shortened URLs leading to clickfarm-type sites. Take that, spammers! (2005-08-22)
