FeaturedContent is an OngoingProject
Why are we doing this:
Featured WikiPages serves a number of community functions:
- It provides a way of celebrating cool things and contributions to the wiki
- It is a way of encouraging and promoting the creation of high quality WikiPages.
- The featured blurbs themselves often are used as a messaging tool to show and teach users on tricks and techniques that might improve their WikiPages, these can include notes on using photos, adding community reviews and the like.
- To encourage and teach TheWikiWay by engaging active members in conversations.
- It provides a dynamic element to the front page, which not only helps inform visitors and get them to return regularly to see what's been featured, it also affects Google rankings by providing regular content and links to pages for Google's spiders to scrape.
Project Tasks
- () FeaturedContent / ProcessNominations (Asad)
- Go through FeatureMeNominated pages.
- Copy a template onto the page to get the process started.
- Transclude onto FeatureMePotentials
- (.5) FeaturedContent / NurtureNominees/December2007.1 (Who?)
- Read through the FeatureMePotentials and encourage them to get better
- Communicate with user or users working on nominated pages
- Monitor the FeatureMePotentials page, working with users and keep abreast of changes to nominated WikiPages.

- Write the blurbs
- Post the blurbs to both the home page and the weblog.
- Add the "featured badge" to each page that's been featured
