Template:LASIK:GoBack

Nathan and I just created a new template to put a link on each doctor's page, back to the LASIK page for their city. Here's an example: Jacqueline D. Griffiths, M.D. I would recommend putting this on each doctor's page. Also, I used Template:TOCright. Do you like the way that looks, with the Table on Contents on the right? Portal Talk:LASIK

I made a new page for anyone working on the LASIK portal to be able to talk about new ideas and on-going work. It would be great if you could write there about the comments already there, and also about your ongoing LASIK portal work. TedErnst

TOCright

I really like how TOCright works with the photos on the doctor's pages. Would it be worth putting TOCright into the GoBack template so it's automated and doesn't have to be individually added to each doctor? TedErnst

changing page names

Hi Obed, do you know about the move feature that's used to rename pages? When you copy wikitext from one page and put it in another (new) page, you lose the edit history. You know about "history", right? Anyway, you lose the history when you do a cut and paste. The "move" feature, on the other hand takes the history with it. Does this make sense? I'd recommend "move" when pages need to change to show the doctor's whole name, or any other reason. peace, TedErnst

LASIKPlus.com

Yes, having a page for each of their offices makes sense. I would leave the main page at LASIKPlus.com, and have the individual city pages links from there, with those city pages having links to the doctors in that city, etc. Is this what you were thinking? Great! TedErnst

Hi Obed, I was mostly asking the question. I think that there is a recursive nature to wiki that I am trying to talk about. ConsensusPolling.org is the canonical place for the idea. It seems that the portal should be on that page... MarkDilley

I would recommend either making a decision yourself about the way to go, and then doing that, with a discussion afterwards on the project page or the portal talk page, so others can also weigh in, or, if you feel you cannot make a decision first, start the discussion first and see what everyone has to say. I'd really like us to get to teh point where we're not only all feeling like we can make decisions, but that we can work together on reviewing and/or making decisions as well. Ah, it's great to see you WelcomingPeople. I think it's something really vital to building community and shaping new users into better editors, but that's just me. Also, it's really great to have you welcoming because of the time difference and the fact that no one can be welcoming while they sleep ;)

May I suggest you point people towards the WikiAnatomy tours? We're just finishing up this project here in Portland and I think it can be very useful (have you seen/taken these tours yet?). I spent the bulk of today working on the OurWork page and the WikiAnatomy page. Tomorrow I plan the pairing on the CP tour with someone, not sure who yet. LASIK Dallas

I updated the Projects:LASIK page today to reflect that it is now in the hands of the AboutUs business office. Content/community won't work on it again (another city, I presume) until it gets prioritized in the planning game, and that doesn't seem to make sense until the calls for Dallas are on their way to completion. talking re: facilitation and the tour

Hi Obed,

This week is pretty tough for me to skype. Could we try talk page notes in the meantime, and hopefully I can get on at a time when we can skype?

I like your edits on the tour. It changed a lot, as you saw, after my talk wtih Julia. Do you have any questions / problems with the changes? We now need to do quite a bit of further cleanup, including making sure introductino and conclusion really work.

As for facilitation, did you see Earle Martin took you up on your inviation to facilitate? His questions seemed very "challenging" rather than supportive, and I wonder how we can help him become a bit softer, so we can move towards consensus, rather than push people into solidifying their positions? Thoughts? TedErnst
