: ''Of course the current version is provisional and will change dramatically as we move forward.  The way the process is currently working is: I write the document in such a way that it is a finished product that works for me. Then you look at it and tweak it (or radically change it if need be) until it is a finished product that works for you. Now that it is different, I come back and do the same again. We don't get into an edit war because each time we change it we are learning something more about what other folks care about. Add in the other participants and we can quickly converge on a finished product that works for all of the participants.''

UniversalWikiEditButton

With your "NotYet" status you say, "Not yet since it's not clear which icon is being voted on. Orange might be too confusing for people who think it's the RSS button. Maybe we don't need to standardize on any color. If the symbol is simple enough, color could be optional. I think some form of wikitext is more relevant than pens, chalk, pencils, etc since a wiki is about more than writing. It shouldn't include any text - this has to be language-independent. See translations of "edit" - most of these don't easily fit in an icon."

Things have changed quite a bit. The current version of the document contains nuggets gleaned from your comment and and the comments of others. I also think that different wikis will use different colors depending upon their color scheme, and it would be nice to have a single "canonical" icon that folks can deviate from as they need. Care to take a look at the current version of the document and update your comment, and perhaps even your status?
Of course the current version is provisional and will change dramatically as we move forward. Add in the other participants and we can quickly converge on a finished product that works for all of the participants.
